¡P        TVU is one of the UK¡¦s largest universities with over 44,000 students. The University merged with Reading College and School of Arts and Design on January 1st 2004.

¡P        Ranked 74th in the Guardian University League Table 2004

¡P        TVU has four campuses - Ealing, Slough and Reading (two), all approximately 30 minutes from Heathrow airport and with efficient rail links between Reading/London Paddington.

¡P        TVU has invested heavily in its library and social/sporting facilities and provides computing and media facilities at the learning resource centres on each of its campuses.

Academic Strengths

¡P        The University has received Excellent or equivalent ratings in some subject areas reviewed in the government¡¦s independent assessment of teaching quality, such as it achieves 20 out of 24 in nursing and hospitality; 22 in applied language studies, sociology and tourism, hospitality and leisure.

¡P        The Facility of Music and Media incorporates the London College of Music, which embraces new technologies and methods to equip students with essential skills and knowledge for employers in the industry.

¡P        The Faculty of Professional Studies is one of the largest providers of management education and training in south-east England.  

¡P        The London School of Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure recently achieved Excellent ratings from the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).

¡P        The Facility of Health and Human Science is one of the UK¡¦s largest providers of nursing and midwifery programmes, has almost 4,000 students on health-care related courses including psychology and health studies.

Programmes Offered

International Foundation Programme (IFP)

This programme at the Ealing campus is a 30 week intensive programme taken before student start a degree or higher diploma.

It has two start dates ¡V September and February each year

Successful completion of the programme guarantees a place on an appropriate degree course at TVU.

English Language Courses

The courses are offered at all levels from beginner to proficiency. Three start dates per year (February, July and September). Classes are taught by qualified specialist language teachers.

Pre-Sessional Programme

This course lasts for four weeks and is free to international students who are starting a full time course of study at TVU. The course mainly focus on 1) Information technology; 2) calculation and statistics; 3) essay writing and researching information; 4) oral presentations; 5) English Language

Accommodation

  • Housing priority is given to new full-time, undergraduate, further education and postgraduate students whose homes are outside the London area. 

  • The University has various accommodation options for international students.

  • The University Accommodation Service (UAS) helps students find suitable private accommodation, university run apartments/flats or dedicated hostels, and can arrange Homestay (bed and breakfast or self-catering) with British families.

  • At Reading campus UAS also offers (limited) accommodation in self-catering halls of residence.

  • Kitchens at both sites are fully equipped with fridges, freezers, microwaves, cookers and lockers.
